Blue Monday

The third Monday in January is known as 'Blue Monday'. New years resolutions broken and a sense of failure, the reality of how much Christmas cost and how little money is in the bank knowing payday is still another few weeks away and the typical British conversation starter is that the weather is grim and the days are still long. So many of us can relate to the low mood, the lack of motivation and the uphill struggle but what if we could change that?

How do we change our state of mind? We work on it. The majority of people waken up, do life, go to bed and repeat again and again and again. How often do you find yourself checking in on yourself? Asking how you are feeling? Considering what you need? Like a lot of us rarely, in fact hardly ever. We allow others to dictate how we show up and then we moan and want to blame them for our wrong doings., our mistakes and our frustrations.

Truth bomb, no one makes you think, act or behave in any fashion other than yourself. Yes others can influence your decisions but they do not have control or the final word over your actions. You have the power within you to make changes, choices and act accordingly to what you want in life.

If you are feeling a little stuck right now consider answering the following questions with complete honesty

  1. How am I feeling right now?

  2. What makes me feel alive?

  3. What or who do I need to spend less time doing/ being around?

  4. What do I truly desire in life?

  5. What holds me back?

  6. What do I believe about being held back?

  7. Who influences you most in life good/bad?

  8. When were you at your happiest?

  9. How can you do more of that?

  10. What one thing can you do today to make a positive change in your life?

Journaling is a great way to connect with your thoughts, to become aware of who and what you want in life. Where you are and why you may be feeling stuck. Changing your mindset is not a one and done task, so if you have tried it before and it 'didn't work' try again. Nothing worth doing ever comes easily. Work hard on yourself for yourself.

Your choice today is choosing whether it is a 'Blue Monday' or not.

Have a great day

Lisa
